Darkness hungers to consume the light
waiting for a chance to claim a life
a man with a shield of honor
sworn to protect and serve
faced the darkness with courage
and the heart of a lion
and for all of his courage he was not a hero
just a Cop named Brian

An ordinary man with an extraordinary heart
a man afraid like all of us
but even though afraid, he fought what we fear
yet darkness claimed his life
and in death he leaves behind
a precious and lovely light
For all the lives he saved in his career
for all the fights he won to protect the innocent
the nights he searched the darkness
and the soulless alleys and streets
for every monster he locked away
for every night he guarded us all
so that we might live to see another day
It was Brian's way

Brian was doing his job
just like he always did
but this time a bullet found it's mark
and he fell into the darkness
where evil lives
But the angels lifted him up
from the grasp of darkness and death
for Cops are God's Arch Angels
wingless mortal angels
God's warriors against the darkness on earth
against the insane, the evil ones that prey on the righteous
God has given Brian in death what he didn't have in mortal life
ETERNAL LIGHT
Brian unfurls his newfound wings
and wraps them around his badge
and the light surrounds him as he is called to heaven
and the angels lift him to the throne
to sit beside his father in his heavenly home
but unlike other angels, Brian's work on earth is never done
Arch Angels are warriors that fight evil
and he will be back to watch over us
as darkness falls and blocks out the sun
Brian's wings unfurls to cover the badges
worn on mortal chests
and the courage that beats in these strong hearts
is all Brain is and righteousness is their vest

A new officer walks into the fight
to carry the sword that Brian and the others have left behind
and even though his fight is just
fear still plays inside his mind
He knows death awaits him at every turn
and sometimes is he frightened and feels alone
That's when Brian and the other angels
begin to whisper in his mind
"Walk with pride, and quell your fear!!
God is your Watch Commander and always near
Win or lose you must protect and serve
and in doing so you serve God's word
Death cannot claim you for you live forever
In eternity your ultimate gift is rewarded for all time
For cops are the fingers of God
that touch our lives each day
who take care of the Shepherds sheep
while he is away
You must keep the monsters from the streets
and bring light where darkness dwells
and send the evil from this place
into the pit of hell"

The Cop looks at the light reflecting off his badge
as the whispers grow stronger and he feels his heart
start to pound for the whispers are his guarding angels
and he loves the wondrous sound

Brian filled many lives with peace
a good man that made knowing him worthwhile
he walked the thin blue line
and his courage teaches us how
in death he gave us all he had
so we must be worthy of him now
We will go on with the quiet courage
that he showed the day he ran into
the dark we will remember every day the gift he gave us
and honor the badge that was his heart


To Brian and his family and all police officers that have fallen and their families... thank you for your sacrifices so that our world can be a safer place. There are no words that can ever be written to honor the badges that you wear on our behalf. I can only say you are in my thoughts and prayers. And I shed many tears for all of you that have given what Brian gave, and I
hope I will be worthy enough to meet all of you in heaven.
